CLEAR COMMUNICATION FORMULA
11 steps to clear, empowered and embodied communication.
Clear Communication Matters
When communicating, get clear on your intention before initiating a conversation.
Stop and consider, why does this matter to you? Identify the impact the issue at hand is having on you and others.
Get Clear on what you want the outcome to be, and be prepared to communicate towards an All-Win resolution.
Stop speaking and listen. Hold space and let the other person process- don’t push or rush, but do stay focused.
What clear communication creates
-
It’s easy to tell the truth, the whole truth.
When you accept your truth, all of it, you can trust yourself to speak up for yourself. You can trust yourself to set clear boundaries, and communicate from a place of feeling safe and secure. -
Learn how to create safety for yourself when it feels challenging to communicate.
When traumatic events happen early in life, like sexual abuse or neglect- this impacts our ability to feel safe communicating. These experiences are stored in the body’s memory, and when an experience triggers the feeling of being overpowered or not considered, our body responds as though we are experiencing that childhood trauma again. This is why it’s common for the body to go into fight, flight, freeze or fawn when we’re confronted with an opportunity to speak, set boundaries or request needs and desires. You can change this. -
Recognize, who are you engaging with during a conversation, are you talking to the adult or is it a wounded inner child?
Identify who you’re talking to and speak to that aspect of them that is looking for resolution and healing. This will help you not take verbal confrontation personally, and lead by example so that they understand how to show up for you when you’re triggered. If you have the ability to hold loving presence, and really anchor deep into your body and the moment, they will be able to see themselves through your eyes. This is a miraculous reset.
